Tuesday September 23 11:30 – 13:00 (room 3)

How do you accelerate the development of a new electronics product without compromising on quality? During this seminar you will discover how to drastically shorten the 'time to market' and avoid pitfalls. We start with a practical look at the electronics development process: why is the requested functionality often quickly visible and does it often take months until the end product is there?

Next, we dive into the crucial prototyping phase, where choices around components, manufacturability and sustainability (Design for X) determine the ultimate success. Because: Right First Time prevents costly correction rounds.

Finally, an OEM shares his approach to successful product development. Get inspired by real-life cases, concrete advice and tips that you can apply directly in your own design process.

A must for every engineer or project manager who wants to combine speed, efficiency and quality in his design process.

Electronics prototype, success is determined here!

A prototype is a first version of the final product. The client often pays attention to the functionality during the presentation of the prototype, does it work?

During this phase it is very important that the right choices are made regarding components, manufacturability, testing and even repair and recycling.

We also call all these other aspects Design for X. If the right choices are not made here, there is a big chance that problems will arise, such as a cost price that is too high or delivery problems. What instructions do you give to the designers and what should you pay attention to during a prototype phase. Designing everything right the first time saves a lot of time and money. Make sure that the expectations are clearly written down from the start. Right First Time!

Idea to Market (I2M) of a LED driver

At Signify the Idea to Market (I2M) framework defines the company's common way of working to set and realize innovation objectives. This framework consists of four areas. In the first two areas, the innovation strategy is defined and translated into various roadmaps and a portfolio of innovation projects is selected. The third area covers the execution of the selected innovation projects guided by five specific processes. The first four processes focus on understanding our customer's needs, developing new technologies and building blocks and creating new features. The fifth process, New Product Development and Launch, builds on this to design, develop and introduce a new product, system or service into the market. The fourth area of the I2M framework focuses on life cycle management of existing products. The presentation will zoom in on the third area and show in more detail some of the steps related to the execution of Signify's innovation projects.
