The temporary committee Digital Future presented the report 'update required' on 28 May. The report aims to gain more parliamentary control over the theme of digitalisation.

The Digital Future Commission of Inquiry describes the following recommendations in the report:

  • Establish a standing committee for Digital Affairs
  • Draw up a Digitalization knowledge agenda to increase knowledge in the House of Representatives
  • Provide substantive support to other parliamentary committees on digitalization issues
  • Ensure a sound legal framework and supervision
  • Extra attention to legislation from the European Union
  • The influence of digitalization is in society and also in the building automation industry has increased significantly in recent years. The theme affects everyone and the questions surrounding safety and autonomy are increasing. In the House of Representatives, the question arose whether there is sufficient knowledge and attention to oversee the full breadth of developments and to provide direction.

The theme of digitalisation did not yet have its own committee, all existing committees do digitalisation 'on the side', without specific knowledge or specified support. The conclusions and recommendations of the temporary committee should ensure more knowledge in the House of Representatives and more control over the theme.

The full report is available to download on the website of the House of Representatives.
