Innovative Dutch entrepreneurs and researchers can receive money from the Horizon Europe research and innovation program until 2027. A total of 95.5 billion euros will be available in the EU programme.

The Horizon Europe program focuses on the development of new technology within themes such as healthcare, mobility, digitalization and the energy transition. Thanks to Horizon Europe's financial support, knowledge and research institutions and companies involved in research and innovation can start new projects. This week became the starting signal was given for Horizon Europe.

In the predecessor of the Horizon Europe programme, called Horizon 2020, the Netherlands managed to raise approximately 5 billion euros between 2014 and 2020. Per capita, the Netherlands topped the rankings within the EU. In the new program, 30 percent more money is available.

Horizon funded, among other things, the Mimetas project, which developed miniature organs made from human tissue for drug testing. CEAD in Delft has also grown thanks to Horizon 2020. They developed a 3D printer technology that, for example, makes plastic composites for vehicles and vessels.
