- More than a million deaths have occurred worldwide due to the coronavirus, says the American Johns Hopkins University. These are registered deaths; the actual death toll is probably much higher.
- MKB-Nederland and VNO-NCW The new government measures are painful but necessary to control the coronavirus. The two business organizations will discuss changes in the third support package with the cabinet.
- The assets test for self-employed people who want to use income support through the Tozo 3 scheme will be canceled for the time being, Prime Minister Rutte announced on Monday evening. Reason is the tightening of the corona measures.
- In the month of September, the number of employees in Germany using the Kurzarbeit wage subsidy scheme fell by one million, reports research institute IFO. In August, 4.7 million employees still used the scheme, in September this fell to 3.7 million.
- Absenteeism due to illness among employees in the healthcare and welfare sector was 6.1 percent in the second quarter of this year. According to CBS this is the highest absenteeism figure of all second quarters after 2003.
