Producer confidence in the industrial sector has fallen, from 7.5 in December 2018 to 5.8 in January 2019. Producers were less positive about expected business activity.
That reports the CBS. In February last year the highest confidence was measured with a value of 10.9, while in February 2009 the value was -23.5.
In addition to the fact that producers were less positive about the expected business activity, the assessment of the stocks of finished products also deteriorated. The assessment of the order portfolio improved, however.
In the electrical and machinery sector, confidence fell slightly from 10.8 in December to 10.3 in January. Producers in the wood and building materials industry were the most optimistic for the eleventh month in a row in January. Confidence among (basic) metal producers fell the most.
