Premo has taken new steps in the field of heat dissipation with CoolMag™, in combination with new production techniques for iron powder magnet cores (FeSi6) for a higher impedance-frequency ratio and at the same time increasing the saturation level of the core.
Designed for OBC and/or DCDC converters where output filters are necessary and power increases lead to heating of inductive components and other critical processes such as saturation of the magnetic core.
CoolMag™ provides a thermally conductive connection that fills all the space between winding and core (and between core and heat sink when heat is dissipated via aluminum or magnesium). The thermal conductivity of CoolMag™ is between 1.5 and 1.8 W/mK, which is sufficient to reduce the temperature gradient by more than 40 ºC. CoolMag™ makes it possible to extend the operating temperature range, increasing the reliability of both induction components and OBC and/or DCDC converters.
