The injection systems of the truck engines were severely damaged by contaminated diesel fuel. Deliveries from a refinery in Eastern Europe were identified as the source of this contamination.<\/p>\r\n<p>The properties that all automotive diesel fuel must meet in order to be sold in the European Union and several other European countries are described in BSI EN 590 and its associated national standards. Since the UK was one of the affected areas of the dispersed contaminated diesel fuel, the British Standard Institute BSI commissioned the Energy Institute EI in London to develop a cleanliness standard for the determination of particulate contamination in diesel fuel. This new test method IP 630 came into effect on April 30, 2020. The BSI EN 590 will implement this test as a reference method for solid contamination in the next revision.<\/p>\r\n<p>PAMAS has been heavily involved in the development of this test method. The PAMAS S40 AVTUR is a particle counter that fully meets all specifications and requirements of the IP PM FA.<\/p>\r\n<p>The European Committee for Standardization CEN is also working on a method for determining solid contamination in diesel fuel.
