As a producer of animal feed or food, have you already taken steps to make your plant(s) compliant?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Start preparations in time, because you must have mitigated all risks of hacking your IT and OT environment by October 2024 at the latest. You may have already accomplished this in the IT field. But what about the OT? Which systems are actually on your process network and are they regularly patched?<\/p>\r\n<h2>Strict sanctions policy<\/h2>\r\n<p>Consistently patching OT systems is by no means a given. After all, this can lead to production disruptions, and production continuity is key! There is therefore often a lack of support, budget and policy to optimally secure the OT. This is precisely what NIS2 requires, under penalty of high fines and loss of permits.<\/p>\r\n<h2>From overview\u2026\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n<p>Time to map everything out properly! Are the remote access points to access your network from outside properly secured? Have you properly set up the firewalls between the IT and OT environment? And what about default passwords? Have they changed over the years? Do you have backups to completely rebuild all systems in crisis situations? Questions that many CISOs, CIOs and IT\/OT managers are currently struggling with.<\/p>\r\n<h2>... according to insight\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n<p>Perhaps you no longer have up-to-date drawings of your process network. It then becomes difficult to inventory (the security status of) all assets in the network and to gain insight into potential risks. Experience shows that there is a lot of knowledge of the process network in the minds of employees who may retire in a number of years. The moment to capture this knowledge!
