NIS2: what will this mean for my production company?<\/h2>\r\n

Digitalization within industrial environments has brought many benefits in recent years. Efficiency improvements, automated processes and real-time data analysis are just some of the many benefits companies have experienced. However, with increasing digitalization, the dangers and risks of cyber attacks have also become increasingly visible. These threats not only affect office environments (IT), but increasingly also the operational processes (OT) of production companies.<\/p>\r\n

Unfortunately, it has become apparent that many companies are insufficiently prepared for this new reality. After all, the consequences of cyber attacks on industrial systems can be far-reaching and even have major consequences for the economy. For this reason, it has been decided at European level to introduce coercive measures for companies that are essential or important to society. This also includes companies in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Because the continuity of companies depends on their operational processes, OT security is no longer an optional issue.<\/p>\r\n

NIS2 guideline<\/h2>\r\n

The European NIS2 legislation is the answer to this threat. This legislation is the successor to the first NIS directive and will come into force in October 2024. As a result, new obligations will apply to a large number of companies in the sectors mentioned. The NIS2 directive requires that production companies take measures against cyber risks and that there is also a responsibility towards suppliers.<\/p>\r\n
