Not only does the end customer benefit from a suitable drive combination, but the machine builder (OEM) can also save a lot of time, costs and damage to their image. Nowadays you can select a lot yourself via an online tool with the associated checks:<\/p>\r\n<p>\u2022 Installed power check OK?<br \/>\u2022 Output speed check OK?<br \/>\u2022 Couple meets the requirements check OK?<br \/>\u2022 Radial and axial forces check OK?<\/p>\r\n<h2><strong>Register and order immediately<\/strong>.<\/h2>\r\n<p><br \/>&quot;Done! On to the next project.\u201d Would you think? Appearances are deceiving.<br \/>Although there is a lot to select yourself, a number of things are often overlooked. In addition to the correct mounting position, terminal box position, the service factor and also consider the power consumption of the application. As a result, there may be too much or too little oil in a gearbox, bearings are not properly lubricated or an oversized (expensive) gearbox has been selected.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<h2><strong>Thermal power<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p><br \/>A check on the thermal capacity of a gearbox is also often neglected.\u00a0<br \/>What is the thermal capacity of a gearbox?\u00a0<br \/>In addition to the ability of a gearbox to transmit power, there is also something called the \u201cthermal capacity\u201d of a gearbox. Very simply put, the ability of the cabinet to dissipate temperature\/heat. The thermal capacity of a cabinet is mainly determined by the design of the gearbox, the total surface area and internal space determine the heat dissipation. An incorrect selection can therefore lead to major and expensive problems, especially with the beautiful summers we have had last year. Without additional cooling or with a \u201ctight selection\u201d, a cabinet can overheat and significant damage can occur internally.<\/p>\r\n<h2><strong>The business environment and use<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p><br \/>If a very short operating time or very low ambient temperature applies, the concept of thermal power may be relatively unimportant.
