In a physical meeting on April 20, organized by FHI and TVVL, we were finally able to come together again. With selected participants, we listened to 3 interesting speakers, after which there was room for statements and a discussion with the audience.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\"\"Flashback<\/strong>
Chairman Ton Branderhorst guided the participants through the program of the mini-symposium Building Automation. After an opening by Paul de Backker, chairman of the FHI branch organization Building Automation, and Joep van der Velden, chairman of the TVVL expert group GB in which they introduced FHI and TVVL, Ton Branderhorst, Siemens Nederland NV, gave a presentation on platform-based ecosystems. Ton explained that for a platform to work, it needs both sides of the network: users and suppliers who generate a flow of goods, information and money. The more users there are on one side of the platform, the more providers want to join to earn money. It is important to properly monitor the open architecture, governance and interactions.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Sander van den Hoven, Sr Partner Tech Strategist Global Partner Solutions at Microsoft, then discussed which services Microsoft Cloud offers and can function as a component in IOT ecosystems and how Microsoft collaborates with partners to develop and market specific solutions. The world is being digitalized at a rapid pace. Many processes are being linked to the internet and to each other and large amounts of data are being collected and stored. By using Microsoft Cloud, this digitalization can be managed smoothly.<\/p>\r\n

\"\"Subsequently, Martijn van Noordennen, Senior Director Industry Advisor \u2013 Energy, Utilities & Manufacturing at Salesforce Industries, talked about the developments of business platforms. Starting with the trends in the entire chain digitalization, then also the industrialization, automation, design and construction but also the expectations of the end user and finally the increasingly complex laws and regulations. Risk management plays a major role in this. SalesForce sees that the transition is increasingly moving from the central position of the building to the user. It is increasingly moving from simple building and service assets to ecosystems \/ marketplaces. He concluded with the advantages of and the rapid change to marketplaces and a number of B2B marketplace trends.<\/p>\r\n

Finally, Bart van der Linden, Founder Digital Ecosystems Institute & CEO (Chief Ecosystem Orchestrator), gave a lecture on building ecosystems in combination with field labs, workshops, lectures, research and theses. The natural ecosystems were compared with business ecosystems, digital ecosystems and digital business ecosystems. He discussed the characteristics of the (digital) ecosystems such as reproducibility, shared (destiny), self-organization, long-term view and collaboration. An example of such a system is the open API of bol.com. He concluded with a number of practical examples of Nijerode's activities in the field of ecosystems and education. In addition, there was an extensive discussion with the audience and we ended the day with a drink.<\/p>\r\n
