The RF Technology event of March 29, 2022 was very successful. In the technical heart of the Netherlands, TU Delft, we welcomed more than 200 visitors, exhibitors and speakers for the largest RF event of the year. The highlight of the day were the lab tours where visitors live <\/em>were able to take a look at four QuTech laboratories: the Quantum Nanoscience department, Microwave group, QuTech Insitute lab and the spin-off company Delft Circuits.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Visitors found it inspiring to see an RF lab in real life and to be able to talk and discuss with employees. A nice boost for engineer Raymond Schouten who organized the lab tours on behalf of TU Delft.<\/p>\r\n

Thread
<\/strong>Kees Eijkel from QuTech and Jesse Robbers from TNO opened the day with a flashy overview presentation about RF in 2022: where are we now and where are we going? Visitors then spread out over three rooms where 13 lectures took place on a wide range of RF topics. From LNA choices to guided immunity and everything in between. Quantum technology was the common thread throughout the program, which is not surprising given the location.<\/p>\r\n

Large-scale quantum computers
<\/strong>aassociate professor<\/em> Fabio Sebastiano from TU Delft discussed the application of cmos microwave<\/em> drivers at cryogenic temperatures. Sebastiano talked about how and why cryogenic electronics will make large-scale quantum computers possible in the future. However, according to the scientist, it will take at least ten years before practically usable quantum computers become available on the market, due to the high error rate of qubits and the low number of qubits available.<\/p>\r\n

Multichannel RF
<\/strong>Joan Mercade from Tabor Electronics closed the day on behalf of Acal BFi with a presentation on the challenges surrounding multi-channel RF and mW vector signal generation and analysis for 5G, WiFi6, Massive MIMO and beamforming<\/em>. In the other room, Andrea Corna from Zurich Instruments (Rohde & Schwarz) gave a well-attended final presentation on double superheterodyne architecture. high fidelity <\/em>quantum computing control and readout.<\/p>\r\n

We look back on RF Technology 2022 with a good feeling. It was clear that visitors and exhibitors enjoyed meeting each other in person again and being able to network as usual.<\/p>\r\n
