Reliability and security are often at the top of the list of priorities when it comes to purchasing technology products. This is not surprising, because what is the point of an ultra-fast connection if it can easily be compromised and network integrity is lost? The same goes for reliability: if a company cannot rely on network stability, processes cannot run smoothly and data can become distorted. Security and reliability (along with ease of use) are therefore crucial areas of focus for every Teltonika Networks product.<\/p>\r\n

While companies are usually quite confident and proudly promote their products, buyers are wary when choosing technological devices, especially when the success of the entire project is at stake. User experiences can then help to gain better insight into the applications of the products. In this blog we share 3 experiences with the RUT950.<\/p>\r\n

RUT950 in police helicopters
<\/strong>When installing night vision cameras on police helicopters for fire coordination, search and rescue flights and traffic monitoring, a reliable product was needed to transmit the live video feed to the police station. At the same time, it also had to be remotely controllable. Using a RUT950 router with the COMBO MIMO Mobile Roof SMA antenna proved to be the best combination. The RUT950 provides a reliable connection with a backup and the desired high security, ensured by multiple hardware and software RUT950 security features, including attack prevention, multiple VPNs, firewall and access control. In addition, the product is compatible with the Teltonika Networks Remote Management System, which allows easy and secure access from different locations for monitoring, maintenance and full control via the RMS Connect functionality.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

RUT950 in ATMs
<\/strong>Providing reliable connectivity for a network of ATMs, some of which operate in harsh weather conditions and remote locations, is a challenge and requires suitable equipment. The RUT950 has two external cellular antennas that enable reliable connectivity even in remote rural areas with limited accessibility. The device can operate in temperatures ranging from -40\u00b0C to 75\u00b0C and can withstand humidity up to 90%, which are essential requirements for ATMs that are often placed outdoors. Some banks used different network providers with different connectivity technologies such as GPRS, SDSL, ADSL WiMax and LAN. With multiple companies providing these services, there were many issues, which reduced the operational time of the machines. Replacing these technologies with the RUT950 4G LTE router has significantly improved the overall performance, ensuring top-level security with higher connection speed and faster setup for a single device compared to using multiple other routers and modems.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

RUT950 in telemetry stations
<\/strong>A basic task of a telemetry station is to collect and transmit data from remote or even completely inaccessible locations. Reliability and security in communication are crucial. Using RUT950 routers in telemetry stations for all their advanced communication needs offers multiple advantages. In addition to remote monitoring and data transmission, it offers mission-critical mobile communication with failover, good Wi-Fi (both Station and Access Point modes) and top-level security features.
Although RUT950 is not the newest device from Teltonika Networks and has been on the market for a while, it has stood the test of time and found real fans in the IoT world. Development and improvement of products continues continuously after their launch, so today\u2019s RUT950 is very different from the RUT905 at the time of introduction, starting with the design and ending with periodic RutOS software updates. Some of the important improvements are DNP3 support, secure boot and load balancing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
