Why do we do what we do? That sounds philosophical, but answering such a question does lead to innovations. Linda Dijkhoorn also experienced this. The CEO of EV Biotech felt that her work was outdated, dared to think out of the box and shortened the development time of microbiological organisms by years. Linda was a keynote speaker at LabAutomation and explained how this technology makes her laboratory more efficient.<\/p>\r\n

Cold shower<\/strong><\/h5>\r\n

It started with frustration during Linda's PhD. \u201cI wanted to design micro-organisms and had limited resources, little budget and only two hands. Because this process was a matter of trial-and-error and I did not discover the crux, six months flew by without any results.\u201d That had to be different, Linda thought.<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0\u201cI am convinced that the use of data is the future. Ultimately, every laboratory will work with it.\u201d<\/em> Linda Dijkhoorn, CEO of EV Biotech<\/p>\r\n

It could also be done differently<\/strong><\/h5>\r\n

Looking for a creative solution, Linda started talking to a fellow PhD student who specializes in modulation. \u201cI asked her: can you modulate bacteria? Because even a little insight will send me in the right direction. She answered yes, got to work and a week later it was a success. Within a few days I achieved more than I had in six months.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

The technology in a nutshell<\/strong><\/h5>\r\n

Smart models create microbial cell factories for industrial production of high-quality chemicals and proteins. EV Biotech has built an entire pipeline for this purpose, with a huge amount of data. In this way it becomes known in a short time which results you can exclude and which analyzes you can perform.<\/p>\r\n

Efficient, fast and sustainable<\/strong><\/h5>\r\n

So what started as frustration became an idea and grew into EV Biotech. Linda's company now brings two worlds together: strain development and digital modulation. \u201cThis initially results in an accelerated development time. And that also brings other benefits: you work more efficiently, use less energy and reduce the waste flow. The result is a more sustainable laboratory.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
