Two speakers in the program address current challenges for designers. Lex van Huuksloot of Telerex Netherlands states that the future of designers is multifunctional<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n

Today's advanced technology is characterized by very fast and extensive data transfer. The data transfer capabilities pose a major challenge. Jim Creed of Hi-Tech RF & Microwave solutions discusses the microwave design challenges<\/a> in quantum computing. The first speaker focuses on EMI and heat. The second speaker emphasizes microwave engineering.<\/p>\r\n

Jim Creed states that Qubit information control and readout is a microwave engineering task. In his lecture he will discuss some of the precision microwave instrumentation. Emphasis is placed on various qubit technologies. Design methodologies for the microwave circuits and associated signal processing are presented together with the modern simulation and analysis procedures to optimize and achieve design goals for timely implementation and integration.<\/p>\r\n

Lex van Huuksloot indicates that the electronics for the large data transfer capacities generate a significant amount of electromagnetic signal interference. But EMI is only half the problem. More parts in these electronics make them more powerful, but also hotter. As consumers will accept nothing less than a sleek, lightweight piece of electronics \u2013 designers face a dilemma: how can they effectively limit EMI and transfer heat in increasingly confined spaces?<\/p>\r\n

To ensure both elegant design and high performance, designers must think multifunctionally. Multifunctional solutions are single or composite components that do the work of multiple parts. A multifunctional solution can serve as a microwave absorber and a thermal interface material at the same time. In the presentation, the speaker provides some keys for designers to find multifunctional solutions to their changing challenges.<\/p>\r\n
