DENS has developed a generator that can supply electricity to any desired location without emitting harmful emissions. This company, which originated from the student team FAST, develops hydrozine generators. These generators, also known as formic acid generators, can serve as a sustainable replacement for diesel generators on construction sites, for example.<\/p>\r\n

Hydrozine, better known as formic acid, is a liquid hydrogen carrier and offers the advantage over gaseous hydrogen that no heavy pressure tanks and compressors are needed for storage. This makes this type of generator the backbone of the electrified construction site of the future.<\/p>\r\n

During the Energy Storage event, founder and CEO Max Aerts will provide a presentation<\/a> which will discuss how the generator works, which techniques and technologies have been used to develop the device and how the generator can be applied in practice. Read more\u2026<\/a><\/p>\r\n

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) using a Power Analyzer<\/a>
<\/strong>The impedance of Fuel Cells or Lithium-ion batteries is an important indicator for the capacity of the cell or stack. Impedance measurements are performed to determine, for example, to what extent a stack has aged and which cells are the weak link(s).<\/p>\r\n

One method for measuring impedance is Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). This method allows electrochemistry such as corrosion to be monitored over a period of time by taking measurements at regular intervals.<\/p>\r\n

By monitoring the values of resistance and capacitance and the impedance over time, it becomes clear which processes cause the deterioration of protective layers and what the condition of the fuel cells is. This can be used to determine when this problem can occur and when action should be taken.<\/p>\r\n

Roy Hali from Hioki tells in his presentation<\/a> On behalf of CN Rood<\/a> about this method. Applying a Power Analyzer for an Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy offers several advantages, which will be explained during the presentation. Using examples, Roy Hali shows how a test setup for both low and higher voltages can be realized.<\/p>\r\n

Energy (Battery) Storage Systems \u2013 Proper monitoring and early detection of insulation faults<\/a>
<\/strong>In practice, two different network systems are used, an earthed network system and a floating network system. In a floating network system, you monitor the whole thing by means of an isolation monitor with active measuring method. A floating network system is also called an IT system, not to be confused with Information Technology. The IT system is not directly connected to an earthed connection.<\/p>\r\n

The floating grid systems offer many advantages, including a higher operational reliability. If there is an earth fault, the process can still continue and maintenance can be planned normally. This certainty is very useful in the energy storage market and can even ensure a better total cost of ownership. Energy storage is part of the infrastructure and this is only switched off when all possibilities have been evaluated and none of these possibilities are available. If there is a switch-off in the event of a single earth fault, then the wrong grid system has been chosen in this case.<\/p>\r\n

During the Energy Storage event, Raymond Vergouwe from Bender Benelux<\/a> about the application of the correct measurement methods for insulation monitoring in (Battery) Energy Storage systems<\/a>He explains why it is wise to choose a floating (IT) network instead of an earthed system and which measurement methods should not be used.<\/p>\r\n
