Greiner AG, based in Kremsm\u00fcnster, Austria, published the first Sustainability Report in its company history last year. This is not only a detailed account of the group's commitment to sustainability, but also defining measurable targets, such as establishing a cyclical economic approach and halving emissions by 2030.
<\/strong>
Ambitious, committed and future-oriented are the adjectives that Axel K\u00fchner, the Greiner AG CEO, uses to describe this first Greiner Sustainability Report. The report highlights the sustainability measures taken and addresses current environmental and social issues. Axel K\u00fchner: \u201cThe presentation of our sustainability report represents an absolute milestone, because we are committed to making a tangible and, above all, measurable contribution to sustainable development.\u201d

Sustainability as a transversal topic<\/strong>
Although Greiner has identified focus points, such as those related to circular economy and CO2 reduction, the group still views sustainability as a cross-cutting topic. Hannes Moser, the CFO of Greiner AG states: \u201cApart from the obvious issues such as environmentally friendly product design and responsible material employment, sustainability also means being a good and reliable employer, who values the individuality and diversity of its workforce. Furthermore, both sustainable management, which involves long-term and transparent relationships with all stakeholders, and securing profit-oriented growth are equally inherent to the theme of sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\"\"\r\nHannes Moser\r\n\r\n

Goals as a blueprint for business development<\/strong>
The objectives in the sustainability report partly extend to the year 2030. They form a blueprint for the future development of the group and amply meet the requirements of the EU plastics strategy. The targets of introducing an internal carbon pricing system by 2020 and pledging that by 2025 all plastic packaging produced will be suitable for recycling, reuse or composting, guaranteeing that all unnecessary plastic packaging will be eliminated. And a commitment that by 2025 a significant percentage of the material used will come from recycling. Axel K\u00fchner, \u201cThe latest example of these efforts is a shampoo bottle, which is produced entirely from recycled polyolefins. It has an attractive design and offers both optimal product protection and excellent environmental friendliness. The recycled material for this product, which is also 100 percent recyclable, is obtained from plastic milk bottles collected in the UK. In fact, the motto \u201cdesigned for recyclability\u201d was a primary consideration from the beginning of this development.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\"\"\r\nGoals\r\n\r\n

It is also worth noting that the Greiner Sustainability Report targets 35% of women in leadership positions by 2025, a 53% reduction in specific CO2 emissions and an increase in the share of reusable energy in electricity purchases to 90% by 2030.
