The maximum value for benzene exposure is currently set at 0.7 mg\/m3 (0.2 ppm). To determine the presence of Benzene in air, Da Vinci Laboratory Solutions has developed an automated GC solution that is equipped with a special gas sampling unit that makes it possible to sample up to 8 gas samples. The analysis can be expanded to include determining BTEX in air.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Benzene application is based on an Agilent Technologies GC configured with:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>an FID or TCD<\/li>\r\n<li>a custom \u201cprogrammed temperature vaporization\u201d (PTV) injector<\/li>\r\n<li>an analytical column and a pre-column<\/li>\r\n<li>a gas sampling unit<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>The sampling unit uses a sampling pump, a mass flow controller and a multi-positioning valve. The multi-positioning valve makes sampling possible via, for example, a \u201cTedlar bag\u201d or via sampling directly from the outside air. Up to 8 samples or standards can be automatically selected and analyzed. The PTV injection port of the system is adapted with an adsorbent tube as an injection port liner, to enable rapid adsorption and desorption of Benzene. An alternative is to collect a sample on a sorbent trap using a programmable sampling pump.<\/p>\r\n<p>The gas sampling unit automates the process of sampling, adsorbing and desorbing. After benzene is eluted from the pre-column to the polar column, the remainder of the matrix is backwashed to deaerate. The analysis of Benzene in Air takes only 25 minutes and has a detection limit (LOD) of 0.0026 \u00b5g\/m3.<\/p>\r\n<p>Would you like to know more about the Benzene analysis? <a
