For people who have been working in the industry for a long time, there is actually not much new under the sun. In many production processes, work has been going on for years on (digital) infrastructure, improved communication, integrated systems and associated data processing. Why then, since the Hannover Messe in 2014, has there been such a fuss in the industry about Industry 4.0 or the English variant that is also often found in the Netherlands: Smart Industry?  <\/strong><\/p>\r\n

During the World of Technology & Science (WoTS), the various slogans also recur frequently. At the same time, the largest fair in the Benelux with suppliers of automation components and systems offers a good opportunity to get a practical answer to the question of what does Industry 4.0 actually mean for my process? During the WoTS, the themes of Internet of Things (IoT) \u2013 Industry 4.0 are made tangible through an advisory route.<\/p>\r\n

A frequently heard improvement is to connect the operational layer (OT) with the information technology (IT) as best as possible. How do you get your process\/installation data from the OT layer into the cloud as quickly, easily and efficiently as possible? With various cloud functionalities you can enrich the data (with other data) and analyze it. This puts opportunities such as conditional monitoring and predictive maintenance within reach. You will receive a demonstration of this at the WAGO stand.<\/p>\r\n

How can software engineers with different technological backgrounds, independently of each other, quickly develop complex applications and fully utilize the openness and flexibility of other programming languages? It offers the possibility to integrate open source software and apps into a control platform that can be programmed with classic PLC programming tools, higher programming languages and model-based development tools such as Matlab Simulink.<\/p>\r\n

Ultimately, you benefit from optimal machine utilization, more sustainable production and higher quality. How to achieve this according to Yaskawa? They offer you a platform to bundle existing mechatronics, information and communication technology together with solutions such as artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet of Things. For these connections, Yaskawa uses standard interfaces such as OPC UA and HTTP.<\/p>\r\n
