We welcomed the entire board of directors and supervisory board of our parent company Addtech to the Netherlands.<\/p>\r\n<p>They are making a special tour through the low countries to get to know their companies in this polder landscape even better. And because MCS is one of the few companies in their portfolio that is an expert in wireless communication techniques, they wanted to know more about this as well.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Schiphol: one of the most inspiring places<\/h2>\r\n<p>Fresh from the plane, Jan Van Rossum, Frank Olsthoorn and Bas Piek were their welcoming committee at Schiphol. Where most travellers continue their way from the airport, we stayed with our Swedish delegation at one of the most inspiring places in our country.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcs-nl.com\/klanten-over-ons\/schiphol-en-mcs-slaan-handen-ineen-met-private-lora-netwerk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schiphol<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has been our Private LoRa partner for over 5 years. We have supported them with the rollout of their\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcs-nl.com\/private-iot-netwerken\/private-lora\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Private LoRa network<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and setting up a number of interesting use cases. And it was precisely in these use cases that Addtech wanted to delve deeper.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Schiphol, Vanderlande and MCS: doing business together<\/h2>\r\n<p>So it was up to us, together with Werner de Bruijn, Dennis de Cock and Jelle van Willigen from Schiphol Group and Wim Bruning from Vanderlande (responsible for the process automation of the baggage belts), to explain exactly what we do together at our airport.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Best digital airport in the world<\/h3>\r\n<p>Werner gave a nice insight into Schiphol&#039;s ambition to be a forerunner as the Best Digital Airport in the World. He shared the successful, but also the failed use cases with the Private LoRa network.<\/p>\r\n<p>Dennis then outlined his mission to accelerate the electrification of the &#039;Airsite&#039; part of the airport. A very topical theme as one of the most important means to achieve the climate targets in 2030.<\/p>\r\n<h3>52 kilometers of baggage belt monitoring<\/h3>\r\n<p>Wim concludes with the recognizable baggage belts. Schiphol has a network of 52 kilometers of baggage belts. Defects in this special infrastructure not only lead to high costs, but also to a disrupted operation.<\/p>\r\n<p>A small interruption in this business-critical process results in unwanted downtime, delays and frustration for travelers. Vanderlande and MCS have jointly developed a sensor that monitors the maintenance cycle of the baggage belts using vibration and temperature.<\/p>\r\n<p>This allows maintenance to be carried out before a fault occurs. This form of predictive maintenance provides enormous savings in money and contributes to a pleasant passenger experience at the airport.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Swedish tour continues<\/h2>\r\n<p>In one and a half hours the Addtech board and the commissioners are updated.
