The firmware update for modulo 6 offers multi-layer protection for installations of all sizes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Internet-based technologies are now an integral part of building operations. But as this development progresses, we need to think more about the risks that disruptions, data breaches or targeted attacks on systems can bring. Critical infrastructure is a particular concern, with laws and regulations designed to try to prevent the worst-case scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>SAUTER uses the latest IT standards for data protection and information security in its building automation solutions. New products and updates are developed to meet the requirements of IEC 62443, thus providing security by design.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sauter-controls.com\/en\/innovation\/modulo-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">modulo 6<\/a> firmware version 2.0 has to offer:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BACnet revision 20 with BACnet\/SC:<\/strong> The firmware update includes BACnet Secure Connect for retrofitting modulo 6 systems in existing installations or for new systems. BACnet\/SC extends the functionality and security for building automation communication and maintains the interoperability of the BACnet communication protocol according to the ANSI\/ASHRAE 135-2020 standard and EN ISO 16484-5.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Routing table for WAN\/LAN:<\/strong> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">modulo 6 has always had an integrated network separation between IT and OT, meaning that the technical network (OT) can be effectively operated separately from the building&#039;s open information network (IT).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The configuration of the new routing table allows to specifically assign the information services to the desired network.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>RADIUS with EAP\/TLS:<\/strong> modulo 6 supports RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) for authenticating automation stations on the network using EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol). Authentication is secured via the TLS protocol. This enables secure authentication of users in networks by encrypting the transmission of authentication data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Firmware version 2.0 offers additional functions for convenient operation of building automation systems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The integrated moduWeb Unity visualization supports operation via touch panels.<\/li>\n<li>The new report generator allows measurement data to be automatically exported for further processing with ERP systems or Excel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Risk awareness and expertise for protection against security risks<\/h2>\n<p>Due to the ever-increasing digitalisation, building automation also requires intelligent strategies against cyber attacks. There is often a lack of risk awareness and expertise in integrating building automation into a security strategy. SAUTER offers support during planning, implementation and ongoing operation.<\/p>\n<p>There are many ways in which cybersecurity solutions benefit those involved. While technicians deal with familiar BACnet services, objects, and properties, network administrators do not need any special configurations or additional devices.
