The development and production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) places high demands on process control, reproducibility, and flexibility. From the initial screening of a molecule to pilot scale and final production, critical process parameters must remain reliably under control. At the same time, there is a growing need for smaller batches, faster development cycles, and production under cGMP and clean-room conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Suurmond offers flexible reactor systems that support this entire development chain: from parallel synthesis and laboratory research to scaling up and API production.<\/p>\r\n

From screening to scalable production<\/h2>\r\n

Successful API development often begins with investigating various reaction conditions. With parallel synthesis technology, multiple reactions can be performed simultaneously and process parameters can be compared efficiently. This provides faster insight into the optimal process conditions.<\/p>\r\n

The next step is the controlled scaling up of the process. In this process, temperature, pressure, mixing, and heat transfer, among other parameters, must remain reproducible at every scale. Therefore, a reactor suitable for one development phase is not automatically the best solution for the next.<\/p>\r\n

Modular reactor platforms offer a significant advantage here: they make it possible to adapt the reactor configuration as the process develops further.<\/p>\r\n

Flexible technology for every development phase<\/h2>\r\n

Suurmond supplies solutions for this from B\u00dcCHI and SYSTAG, among others. With SYSTAG FlexyCUBE, multiple reactions can be executed in parallel for rapid screening and process development. For further scaling up, B\u00dcCHI reactor systems are available ranging from miniPilot and midiPilot to medium-scale pressure reactors.<\/p>\r\n

Specialized reactor solutions are also available for high-pressure processes, such as hydrogenation. This allows processes to be investigated under increasingly representative conditions before the step to larger production scales is taken.<\/p>\r\n

For applications where cGMP requirements and controlled production conditions play a role, suitable reactor configurations and clean-room options are also available.<\/p>\r\n
