Semi-solid-state combines features of conventional lithium-ion technology with a partially solid electrolyte structure. By partially replacing the liquid component with a solid phase, a cell architecture is created with a much higher energy density and improved stability.
GEB pushes the boundary with this: their new GEB8540140 cell, with a nominal voltage of 3.8V and 14Ah, achieves an impressive energy density of nearly 500 Wh\/kg, almost double that of standard Li-ion pouch cells.
