The system combines programmable DC sources, bidirectional power supplies, regenerative electronic loads, and SMU modules in a single integrated 5U frame. As a result, the IT2705 replaces multiple separate measuring instruments and offers a uniform, efficient, and highly accurate test environment. With support for up to eight modules and a wide range of power classes from 20 W to 500 W per channel, the IT2705 is suitable for diverse applications such as IoT devices, automotive electronics, semiconductors, DC-DC modules, RF modules, and medical electronics. Thanks to the high sampling rate, built-in data logging, and powerful waveform generator, even the smallest transients and dynamic events can be accurately captured.<\/p><h3>Modular design for maximum flexibility<\/h3><p>The heart of the IT2705 is its modular design. The 5U frame supports up to eight modules, which can be combined completely freely. This allows a single system to function as a power supply, electronic load, SMU, battery simulator, and waveform generator simultaneously. Each module operates in electrical isolation and can be configured individually, making the system ideal for multi-channel testing or parallel power expansion.<\/p><p>The IT2705 supports four main types of modules:<\/p><ul><li><strong>IT271XX DC power modules<\/strong><br>Programmable DC sources with CV\/CC\/CP modes, fast response, and high accuracy.<\/li><li><strong>&gt; IT273XX bidirectional DC modules<\/strong><br>Suitable for energy storage, battery simulation, and bidirectional DC-DC tests.<\/li><li><strong>IT275XX regenerative electronic loads<\/strong><br>Support CC, CV, CR, CP, and composite modes, including dynamic load and ARB output.<\/li><li><strong>IT278XX SMU\u2011modules<\/strong><br>Low-power four-quadrant modules, ideal for IoT chips, sensors, and semiconductors. The system features a 7-inch color display with real-time display of voltage, current, and power. Users can choose from various display modes, including single-channel, four-channel, and eight-channel overview.<\/p><p><strong>Oscilloscope mode<br><\/strong>All modules support a sampling rate of up to 200 kSa\/s. This allows fast transients, switching phenomena, noise, and dynamic load changes to be accurately captured without external probes. The front panel features direct oscilloscope buttons such as trigger, single capture, and run\/stop, making operation intuitive.<\/p><p><strong>Data logging<\/strong><br>The IT2705 features a powerful data logger capable of recording voltage, current, and power at intervals starting from 20 microseconds. The data can be stored in internal memory or on USB storage. This makes the system suitable for long-term trend analysis, fault detection, and performance comparisons.<\/p><p><strong>Extensive Waveform Generation and Test Automation<br><\/strong>The IT2705 supports multiple advanced output modes that are normally only available in specialized equipment.<\/p><p><strong>LIST mode<\/strong><br>This allows precisely defined steps in voltage or current to be executed, each with an adjustable duration and rise rate. LIST files can contain up to 2,000 steps, ideal for simulating startup profiles, load jumps, or voltage variations.<\/p><p><strong>Arbitrary Waveform (ARB)<\/strong><br>With ARB output, users can generate complex waveforms, such as sine, pulse, trapezoid, exponential, ramp, or fully user-defined profiles. This is particularly useful for testing DC-DC stability, communication modules, and battery behavior.<\/p><p><strong>Sequence mode<\/strong><br>This allows various waveform segments to be combined into a single test program. This makes it possible to simulate realistic scenarios, such as a DC-DC converter transitioning from normal operation to fault conditions.<\/p><p><strong>Const Dwell Arbitrary (CDARB)<br><\/strong>In this mode, up to 8,000 data points can be imported, each with a fixed dwell time. This is ideal for reproducing measured battery profiles, RF power variations, or complex load patterns.<\/p><p><strong>Battery simulation and energy storage testing<br><\/strong>The IT273XX and IT278XX modules support advanced battery simulation. This mimics the behavior of a real battery based on parameters such as open-circuit voltage, internal resistance, and capacity. The output voltage adjusts dynamically based on the current demand of the DUT, allowing realistic charge and discharge scenarios to be tested without the limitations of physical batteries. Additionally, the IT2705 supports extensive charge and discharge tests with adjustable cutoff criteria such as voltage, current, time, energy, or capacity. Thanks to the data logger, complete charge and discharge curves can be stored and analyzed.<\/p><p><strong>EIS \u2013 Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy<\/strong><br>The IT27814 SMU module features integrated EIS functionality, enabling the measurement of impedance spectra of batteries, fuel cells, inductors, and other electrochemical or reactive components. The module supports frequencies from 0.1 Hz to 20 kHz and automatically generates Bode and Nyquist plots. This makes the instrument particularly valuable for research into battery aging, internal resistance, and dynamic properties.<\/p><h3>Applications<\/h3><p>The IT2705 is designed for a wide range of test scenarios. The most important applications are explained in detail below.<\/p><p><strong>IoT devices and wearables<br><\/strong>IoT devices have extremely low quiescent currents and rapid peak currents when communicating or activating sensors. The IT2705 can accurately measure these transients thanks to the high sampling rate and SMU modules with automatic current ranges. This allows designers to optimize energy consumption and predict battery life.<\/p><p><strong>DC-DC modules<br><\/strong>In DC-DC tests, the IT2705 acts as both power supply and load. The oscilloscope mode captures power-on behavior, stability, and transient response, while ARB output simulates voltage dips, noise, and variations. This makes the system ideal for the complete characterization of converters.<\/p><p><strong>Semiconductors and power ICs<br><\/strong>The SMU modules offer precise four-quadrant control, enabling characterization of diodes, MOSFETs, ICs, and sensors. Thanks to the fast response, even short pulse loads can be measured.<\/p><p><strong>RF modules and communication electronics<br><\/strong>RF modules often exhibit rapid variations in power consumption during transmit and receive cycles.
