These and other safety issues will be the focus of the online Time for Safety Knowledge Table organized by Hitma on Thursday, October 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Various layers of security
<\/strong>Hydrogen plays an increasingly important role as an energy carrier and raw material. At the same time, working safely with hydrogen requires specific attention. The gas is colorless and odorless, spreads rapidly, and a hydrogen flame is barely visible to the naked eye. In addition, hydrogen is stored and transported under high pressure in many applications.<\/p>\r\n

During the online Knowledge Table, Hitma therefore examines various safety layers within the hydrogen process, from production to storage, transport, and application.<\/p>\r\n

Gas and flame detection as a common thread
<\/strong>During the webinar, host Mitch van Nieuwkerk speaks with Hitma specialists Peter Adema (gas and flame detection) and Akash Ramlagan (pressure protection).<\/p>\r\n

Gas and flame detection forms the common thread of the conversation. Topics covered include the locations within a hydrogen process where leaks can occur, determining the position and number of detectors, and the question of when gas detection, leak detection, and flame detection complement each other.<\/p>\r\n

Gas and flame detection specialist Peter Adema also discusses the role played by fixed and portable gas detection and what needs to happen after a detection. This includes alarming, ventilation, shutting off, or automatically bringing a process to a safe state.<\/p>\r\n

Attention to pressure protection
<\/strong>In addition to (leak) detection, attention is paid to preventing and controlling overpressure. Pressure protection specialist Akash Ramlagan discusses the consequences of high pressures in hydrogen applications and the role of safety valves and rupture discs in protecting installations.<\/p>\r\n
