The Exein Runtime application is intended to protect IoT devices against the intrusion of unwanted visitors from outside. The security consists of a three-step system. In the application on the device itself, an AI task runs that monitors communication with the outside world and learns what is normal and abnormal communication behavior based on basic rules. This is a small piece of software that can actually run on any controller, even in existing devices. If Exein Runtime detects something that is abnormal, two things happen. First, the communication to the IoT device is secured. At the same time, a cloud application is called that warns the manufacturer of the device and provides detailed information about this abnormal behavior. The Cloud application then provides advice on how the IoT device can be secured even more effectively. What this advice is, has also been learned by AI. These recommendations can then be included in a patch or software update and made available to all IoT devices via, for example, an Over-the-Air update process so that the entire IoT ecosystem remains up to date and continuously learns from what hackers can come up with.
