Everyone knows how important it is to work safely in the lab. But are you also aware of the latest developments and solutions to work more safely? During the X-pedition Safety: How safely do you work? you will learn in a practical way about harmful noise in laboratories, the safe disposal of toxic and infectious waste and recognizing dangerous situations in the workplace.<\/p>\n

Harmful noise in laboratories<\/strong>
\nHarmful noise levels can be created when using various laboratory equipment, such as grinders (cryogenic), mixers and vibration baths. To protect the worker, noise levels can be assessed in various ways. Avans+ will tell you more about it during the X-pedition.<\/p>\n

Risks are closer than you think: Being aware and knowledge is key!<\/strong>
\nAccidents happen every now and then, even in a laboratory. At the DENIOS BV stand, recognizable situations are simulated that have consequences for safety on the work floor. How do you become aware of unsafe situations in the lab?<\/p>\n

Ventilation in 2024<\/strong>
\nAir quality is essential for a healthy and safe working environment. At the Dupa stand you will find custom-made carbon filters that capture harmful fumes and continuously monitor air quality. They show what the benefits are and how you can use them in your workplace.<\/p>\n

Toxic and infectious waste \u2013 disposed of safely!<\/strong>
\nSALM EN KIPP shows how laboratory waste management makes the working environment safer. Through strict compliance with laws and regulations, worker protection is prioritized, while at the same time meeting both EU and local waste regulations. Trouble-free processing of toxic and infectious waste ensures a safe working environment, allowing the laboratory to continue to function efficiently and responsibly.<\/p>\n

How do you work safely in a microbiological safety workbench?<\/strong>
\nIn practice, unsafe work is regularly done with a microbiological safety bench. The safety bench gives a 'safe' feeling, but the user has a major influence on this. So the question is: how safely do you work? The Baker Company provides useful tips to make a microbiological safety bench really safe.<\/p>\n

How safe is your behavior in the lab?<\/strong>
\nHow do you become aware of your behavior in the lab and whether it is safe or unsafe? Because whether and how you use your personal protective equipment determines how safely you work. With VOS instruments you will discover how to make safe behavior in the lab self-evident.<\/p>\n

At each stand you will be asked a question. After completing the X-pedition you will receive a present and a certificate.<\/p>\n

The X-pedition is available to follow every day of the fair week. The seminar on safety, which will take place on September 24 between 10:00 and 11:30, also ties in with the X-pedition.<\/p>\n
