End users rely on the safety and quality of products and services. The risks for the end user are minimized by the combination of standards, the TIC sector that deals with testing, inspection and certification and the Accreditation Council.<\/p>\n<p>In the seminar \u201cQuality, why is it important?\u201d Experts from KIWA, Lab-QAcademy and VSL talk about the efforts made to achieve, control and guarantee the desired quality. products and services in various sectors. Through a coherent system of standards, testing, certification and supervision, they ensure that organizations and consumers can trust what they buy and use. The aim of the quality infrastructure is to contribute together to the safety and quality of products and services and thus also to promote innovation.<\/p>\n<p>The quality infrastructure has united as a platform. She is working on her fame with the aim of making &#039;BV Nederland&#039; better, safer and more sustainable. Kiwa&#039;s road construction laboratory plays a major role in ensuring the quality of the Dutch road network. Ties Joosten is director of the Infra &amp; Sport division at Kiwa and chairman of the industry association Fenelab. He explains how the tests and measurements in the laboratory are essential to keep our roads at the highest level.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"text bg--offwhite\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='heading-wrapper'><svg width=\"13\" height=\"13\" viewbox=\"0 0 13 13\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><circle cx=\"6.394\" cy=\"6.5\" r=\"6.394\" fill=\"#000\"\/><\/svg><h2>Why does a laboratory need a quality management system?<\/h2><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text__content text__content--1-col\">\n\t\t\t<p>To demonstrate that the laboratory is competent, the laboratory can obtain accreditation. In the Netherlands you have to go to the Accreditation Council, a non-profit independent administrative body. What is the value of an RvA accreditation, in the Netherlands, in Europe and worldwide? Two accreditation standards apply to laboratories, ISO\/IEC 17025 for testing and calibration laboratories and ISO 15189, based on ISO\/IEC 17025, for medical laboratories.<\/p>\n<p>Both standards are tough and boring and in addition to reading, the requirements mentioned must also be interpreted according to your own organization. In general, these tasks are assigned to the quality manager (\u201chowever named\u201d), while the laboratory management should also know and be able to apply the content of the standard. Principles can help with this, in other words: if you don&#039;t have a map, you need a compass. Principles replace blindly following the requirements of the standard with the understanding that builds trust in a system that should consistently produce valid results. With knowledge of the principles, the standard can be better interpreted and applied. In addition, traceably calibrated measuring instruments are often a requirement to comply with quality standards, such as ISO 9001. But what exactly is traceability? How is this provided in the Netherlands? And what do those terms on the calibration certificate actually mean?
