This technology is continuously developing and improving.<\/p>\n<p>A traditional Stack Condition Monitoring system provides reliable monitoring of five essential stack parameters: Single Cell Voltages, Total Current and Voltage, Temperature, Compression on disk springs, and vibration detection around the stack. This information is crucial for both manufacturers and operators to keep their installations functioning optimally and to identify stack failures at an early stage, such as cell degradation, gas crossover, leaks, sealing problems and stack compression.<\/p>\n<p>By using automated machine learning software, the system can be disabled in the event of deviations to ensure safety. The Stack Condition Monitoring system is the essential link in the management of the entire stack. It not only collects data, but processes and responds to crucial stack information. High-precision mass flow meters, pressure meters and controllers support better monitoring by measuring and controlling gas and liquid flows. This provides early insights and the possibility of efficiency and improving the lifetime of the electrolyser.<br \/>\nThe current production of green hydrogen is insufficient to meet future demand. Electrolysis capacity will therefore have to increase enormously in the coming years. There are still challenges, for example in the field of efficiency and lifespan of electrolysers.<br \/>\nWhere PEM technology is often used today, alkaline technology also seems to be gaining popularity. This is noticeable in the worldwide (continued) development that is in full swing. Bronkhorst&#039;s highly accurate pressure and mass flow meters and controllers are often used from the R&amp;D phase to the industrial application.<br \/>\nEach electrolyser principle has its own specific challenge. Common factor is a necessary but delicate balance in gas and liquid flows and pressure: to function efficiently and to prevent damage and wear to membranes, electrodes and seals, for example.<br \/>\nThis balance is dynamic in nature, caused by the erratic availability of green energy. Accurate monitoring of gas and liquid flows provides valuable information for monitoring and testing systems, in order to optimize the performance and lifespan of the electrolyser.<br \/>\nSpecific mass flow-based instruments support with more direct and accurate insight into the condition of the stack, for example in terms of efficiency and timely detection of internal or external leaks.<br \/>\nBronkhorst (MFC) pressure or mass flow meters, with integrated PID control, also prove valuable for controlling dynamic balance. VIRO is investigating the potential of ammonia, which is already being used successfully in shipping.
