In addition to causing severe skin damage, burns frequently trigger intense inflammatory responses, bacterial infections, and other complications that delay the healing process. Innovative research models are essential to better understand these underlying mechanisms and to develop effective treatments.<\/p>\n<p>At the Burn Research Lab in Beverwijk, we use blood and skin samples from patients to study burns. Through techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy, we map the body&#039;s responses and explore ways to reduce complications and scar formation in patients.
