You will gain new insights and practical tools that you can immediately apply in your own practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dowine de Bruijn, Team Manager Water Quality at Vitens<\/strong> Start the session with a presentation:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Developments, bottlenecks and research into PFAS within the drinking water sector<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are man-made chemicals used in many different products (i.e., non-stick coatings, rainwear, cosmetics, fire-fighting foam). PFAS are very stable and break down little to not at all in the environment. As a result, these substances are now found in the air, soil, and water, even in locations far from PFAS-emitting factories. However, &#039;PFAS&#039; is a collective name for millions of different substances. As a drinking water laboratory, how do you determine which PFAS are relevant to measure? How can you measure them, and what is the limit of measurement?
