Europe has major ambitions when it comes to our digital economy and autonomy. At the same time, the Netherlands is struggling with a power grid that is under increasing pressure.<\/p>\n

New rules of the game are needed to accommodate the future demand for digital capacity. In this context, attention is increasingly being focused on the role that digital infrastructure itself can play in creating flexibility on the power grid. This offers opportunities for data centers and organizations with their own server environments.<\/p>\n

But what does this look like? Bart van der Laan will explain the state of our power grid, where opportunities lie for a win-win between both sectors, and how you can already prepare for this.<\/p>\n

Bart works as a program manager at Alliander (parent company of grid operator Liander), collaborating with governments and industries to prepare sectors for the future.
\nIn this context, flexible and sensible energy use plays a crucial role in achieving sustainability, affordability, and a resilient energy system. Together with the DDA (Dutch Datacenter Association), he is working on new ground rules for the National Approach to Datacenters, which the Cabinet will send to the House of Representatives later this year.
