In a concise and clear presentation Advantech will give an overview of Industrial Automation solutions according the IEC-61850 standard, which was developed for the design of automation applications in Transmission and Distribution. Advantech will explain the benefits of this international Multi-Vendor Standard and the objectives to create automation systems that can operate in the harsh environment of Power and Energy sector.
The presentation shows how this global automation standard with multiple number of communication protocols and physical standards should improve reliability, technical features, reduce cost, facilitate commissioning and installations and finally enable retrofits. And we will look at this from the various perspectives: that from the end-user, integrator or producer.
We will learn how the standard affects future architectures, process levels controls, SCADA and security issues. Comparisons with standards from other industrial automation areas like the Factory and Building Automation will be highlighted .
The narrative does not stop at giving us just theory. It concludes with real life examples from multi-vendors, renewable energy, smart home applications and energy substations. By now, the presentation should have convinced the audience about the possibilities of IEC-61850 in the long term and the enthusiasm it meets from all stake-holders including end-users.
