chemagic STAR: the most flexible nucleic acid workstation now with total RNA extraction

6 maart, 2014 door HAMILTON Robotics

Standard-Solutions_chemagic-STAR

The chemagic STAR offers a combination of the leading NA purification system from PerkinElmer Chemagen Technologie GmbH with the high performance liquid handling technology on Hamilton´s STAR platform in an integrated system. This “single housing” design saves bench space and ensures sample safety during the complete purification process.

The ability to process a wide range of sample material (e.g. blood, plasma, buffy coat, saliva, cells, tissue, buccal swabs) with volumes from 20µl to 10ml makes the chemagic STAR the most flexible fully automated nucleic acid extraction robot on the market.

The chemagic STAR is already on the market for years and we keep on developing on this instrument, in combination with PerkinElmer Chemagen Technologie GmbH. New protocols keep on being developed and added to the portfolio.

News

  • New protocols are available now for extraction of total RNA from PAXGene™ tubes or total RNA out of cells and tissue for 2×12 or 2×24 sample (2ml) per run.
  • In addition, the chemagic STAR is able to extract nucleic acids out of human body fluids (e.g. urine, stool suspensions, liquor), Swab transport media containing human body fluids or from FFPE tissue with little adaptions of the already existing protocols.

The extracted nucleic acids are ready to use in the fields of HLA-typing, Human Genetics, Pathogen Diagnostics and Virus Screening.

Benefits:

  • Unique flexibility: Unmatched volume range from low (20 to 400µl) to medium (0,5-4ml) up to high volume (1-10ml) sample, almost any kind of human sample material.
  • Easy to use GUI: just enter your experiment´s details and press start
  • Reliable sample processing & full sample traceability: Contamination free primary sample pipetting with filter tips & barcode tracking of primary samples, storage racks and tips.
  • Adaptability: Use with any choice of input tube and output tube/plate format.
  • Upgrade Options: 2D-barcode scanning on deck with Ziath AV6; basic LIMS module (adaptable to the specific needs of the customer); DNA concentration measurement (as off deck integration); UV-kit
