Renewable energy applications require converters with high flexibility and efficiencies, that are capable of handling high voltage levels while providing galvanic isolation. These features can be accomplished by employing a Dual Active Bridge (DAB) circuit as a basic module of the power electronic converter. Furthermore, efficiency improvement using SiC MOSFET over Si IGBT based DAB leads to converters with higher power density for operating blocking voltages above 600V.
