For the second year in a row the International MicroNanoConference takes place in the impressive Beurs van Berlage in the city center of Amsterdam.
Last year, a lot of visitors were astonished by the architecture and historical details of the building.
To experience the full beauty of the building and to learn more about its history as a stock exchange you can join a guided tour as part of the evening program of Tuesday December 12th. In addition, you can also climb the bell tower that offers extensive views of Amsterdam.
Hendrik Petrus Berlage is considered the Father of Modern architecture for Dutch architecture. As the intermediary between the Traditionalists and the Modernists, Berlage’s theories inspired most Dutch architectural groups of the 1920s, including the Traditionalists, the Amsterdam School and De Stijl. As a convinced socialist, he didn’t believe that the Beurs van Berlage would be used as a stock market for long. He therefore designed it in a way that, after the socialist revolution, it could be used as a people’s palace.
Prior to the guided tour you can join the dinner in the main hall of the Beurs van Berlage, Tuesday evening Dec. 12th.
You can register for the dinner and social programme using the visitors registration form.
