It’s TECHNOLOGY THURSDAY! Gerber is the most popular data format among PCB designers to transmit a design to the PCB manufacturer. The simple code can be processed by machines and read by humans. Until now, Gerber formats have only contained the information for manufacturing the bare PCB. The latest version, Gerber X3, also contains all the information about the electronic components, e.g. connection type, position, outline, i.e. the information needed to assemble the PCB.
