Knowledge, cases and contacts within environmental technology

In the world of environmental technology, everything revolves around one thing: ensuring that products continue to perform as intended under real-world conditions. Reliability, tested and proven.

To further develop and share this expertise, PLOT, the Environmental Technology Platform, was founded in 1995. It's an active network of professionals who exchange knowledge, strengthen each other, and advance the field.

PLOT is part of FHI, the federation of technology industries, and has almost 50 members.

Upcoming PLOT Climate Working Group meeting, June 11, 2026

The PLOT Climate Working Group will meet again soon for an interesting and technical session on the theme of UV solar radiation and weathering tests.

During this meeting, not only will current developments and technical presentations be shared, but the first results of the ongoing solar project will also be presented and discussed. This offers a good opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore the next steps in research and application together.

About the association

Vision

The Platform Environmental Technology association was founded in 1995 on the initiative of Harro Jansen, Peter van Harmelen and Garmt Grommers. The association started with fifteen members and grew into a stable and active network with forty members. PLOT is the network of companies, institutes and individuals involved in preparing, facilitating and executing test and testing programs for products in simulated environments. The PLOT network aims to internally exchange knowledge and experience, disseminate that knowledge and experience and strengthen the socio-economic position of the field of environmental technology.

Scope

The scope of the Environmental Technology Platform includes five points of interest:

  • Climatic tests, tests in which products are tested for their functioning under temperature fluctuations and variations in humidity, salts, mists and gases in the environment in which products are used.
  • Mechanical tests, testing whether products can withstand dynamic and static loads, drop tests, vibration tests and the like.
  • Electrical tests, testing of products for their functioning against electromagnetic radiation, disturbances, short circuits and the like.
  • Methodology, methodology, standards and norms for test and testing procedures, Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS).
  • General testing issues, for example standards for testing.
