The match between technology and labor

On December 10, 2025 We welcome you to FHI for an inspiring meeting about one of the most pressing challenges in industrial automation: the shortage of medium- and highly-educated technical personnelWe see growing demand for service, maintenance, and technical support among both our members and end users, while available personnel are scarce.

This shortage puts pressure on the sector, especially in the area of service and maintenanceNight-time emergency services, stressful situations, and irregular working hours make these positions less attractive to young people. At the same time, this challenge offers opportunities: the deployment of technology, automation and remote assistance can help bridge this gap. And that's precisely where our members can benefit, because many of these solutions fall within their own expertise and products.

During this meeting we would like to discuss with our members and experts in the field:

  • How we can get young people excited about technical service and maintenance positions.
  • Which strategies and technologies employers can use to make their offerings more attractive.
  • What employees expect from their employer and how we retain them in this tight market.
  • Concrete examples and practical cases from the industrial automation sector, so that we do not remain stuck in abstractions but work with directly applicable knowledge and technology.

We invite you to think along, share, and collaborate on solutions that address both the staff shortage and technological innovation in our sector.

Together we create the match between technology and labor!
