DC current flowing through the windings of a transformer in an isolated inverter causes DC biasing of the magnetic flux. This can result in higher core losses or even saturation of the transformer.
Many DC bias mitigation methods use expensive measurement circuits or degrade the inverter performance. In this lecture, Maurice Roes presents an alternative detection method based on simple measurements in the inverter DC bus. This can be used to compensate for DC bias.
