Jim Jansen (1971) is not your average journalist. Where others write about politics, sports or entertainment, he enthusiastically dives into the world of science and technology. And he does not do this with dry analyses or complicated jargon, but in a way that makes even the greatest humanities student curious. As editor-in-chief of New Scientist and coordinator of the science pages in Het Parool, Jansen knows better than anyone how to make complex material accessible and interesting.

He has published fourteen books and is a regular guest at Humberto and Spraakmakers.

During his lecture for LabAutomation, he takes you to the scientific world of 2025. He talks about the laboratories he visited and where the most beautiful lab in the world is located (spoiler: just outside Geneva, 100 meters underground). He also takes a look at the lab of the future. A sustainable laboratory, full of automation, AI, and digitalization.
