After a successful motion project, machine builder Berg Hortimotive is working on deeper analyses and improved insight.

A new controller has already given their spraying robots a big boost. But Berg Hortimotive doesn't want to stop there. Process optimization is now the most important thing. This is achieved thanks to analysis and insight, via the applications of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). With the new control system, the company has everything it needs.
Berg Hortimotive supports greenhouse horticulture worldwide. The company, located in De Lier in South Holland, improves and accelerates processes in greenhouses. This includes the BeMatic Meto spray robots. These drive into customers' greenhouses on a rail system, spray the crops there and thus provide the necessary protection. All this is very effective and efficient, because the robots save the customer a lot of time.

For every customer worldwide
The Meto's recently received a new controller. This consists of components and software that we supplied, and we helped Berg Hortimotive with the integration. We logged in to the test environment, watched and made adjustments. And we often did all that remotely, for a future-proof basis for the Meto's. Because with more than just a new controller, Berg Hortimotive can also work towards more insight with this system. This is obtained via the digital network of the IIoT, where components together provide visibility and remote support.

PLC FP0R
In the Meto, the compact FP0R forms the core of the control system. In addition, the PLC serves as an external measuring instrument. For example: how often is a specific function switched on? The FP0R records and stores such data, after which the user can transfer the data to Corvina Cloud via the HMI.

HMI HMe04
A Human Machine Interface (HMI) visualizes processes. This also happens in the Meto, where the user can manage the same processes via the screen. The HMe04 is a low-threshold version of an HMI. It is user-friendly and free of unnecessary functions. Yet the device offers the – of course secure – connection between a machine and Corvina Cloud.

Corvina Cloud
Our online platform for the IIoT. Based on OpenVPN and SSL, and the application for connections between machines, users and devices. Corvina Cloud provides access to a centralized dashboard, including the real-time status and location of all machines. So updating is fast, thanks to remote monitoring and support, at any time.

Predictive maintenance
How often has a Meto been started up at a customer? How often has the robot sprayed, how often has it driven into a path? These are parameters that Berg Hortimotive can already log. And – provided that the collected data is linked correctly – they can use it for predictive maintenance, for example. This keeps the robots functioning optimally, extends their lifespan and also provides more control over the supply chain.

Anticipate anytime, anywhere. Respond and decide at lightning speed. A start with IIoT is quickly made, as the situation at Berg Hortimotive shows. Curious about the potential of the digital network for your organization? Ask us about the possibilities - we are happy to help you.
