EPIC Power is a Spanish manufacturer of bi-directional DC/DC converters that are intended to couple high DC bus intermediate circuit voltages and lower battery voltages. A low-voltage battery can thus feed a regular frequency controller, directly via the intermediate circuit. And in the case of regenerative braking, the braking energy can be returned to the battery system. This can be cleverly linked via a CAN bus. These EPIC systems can be equipped with the charging profile of the coupled (lithium) battery so that optimal operation is guaranteed.
The EPIC DC/DC converters are available in nominal power ratings of 3.5 – 8kW isolated modules, while non-isolated modules of 40 and 80kW are available as standard. The low side DC input is available from 19 ~ 600Vdc and the high side voltage is 280 ~ 848Vdc.
Typical applications are industrial elevators, cranes, AGVs, hybrid ships, energy storage systems etc.
