May 28, 2024 – We have been continuously improving throughout Boom's history. We are also committed to reducing CO2emissions. In 2023 we will have 30% CO compared to 20212 saved. In 2023 we will have a total of 137.6 tons of CO2 expelled. Compared to 2022, this is a decrease of 52.3 tons of CO2.

In 2023, our field service employees were able to visit more customers than in 2022. The reason for this was that various Corona measures were still in effect in 2022, which meant that our employees could not always visit our customers. These measures would no longer apply in 2023. Despite the fact that the kilometers of field service have increased, emissions have become relatively lower because Boom has simultaneously started making its fleet more sustainable.

Of course, Boom has not stood still and we have applied many measures behind the scenes so that we can ultimately reduce the CO2 can reduce consumption.

  • The office will switch off its gas in mid-2023. The expectation is that we will see the effect of this measure in the CO by mid-20242 footprint. The production department had already switched off gas in 2018, so only the logistics department is linked to the gas.
  • For Boom, the purchase of gas automatically means an increase in electricity consumption due to the heat pumps that will be installed in 2023. This increase will become clear in mid-2024 when the data for the first 6 months are known. For this reason, we are also working on a green electricity certificate in 2023. We have had a Green Certificate for Dutch wind energy since 2023. This results in CO emissionsfor electricity 0 tons of CO2 per year.
  • Boom was already working on making company cars more sustainable. For example, the last diesel company car will be replaced by a hybrid car in 2022. In 2024, Boom will go one step further. All company cars will be replaced by electric cars. In addition to the company cars, Boom also has two vans. The first Boom bus has already been replaced by an electric bus in 2023 and the second bus will be ordered in 2024. In all likelihood, it will be delivered in early 2025.
  • Finally, Boom has a CO2 Ideas box where all employees have a COsaving idea. In 2023, a total of 37 ideas were submitted by our colleagues, more than half of which were realized.
