The Multi-DOF technology measures up to six degrees of freedom
Multi-DOF technology gives you the ability to measure up to six different degrees of freedom simultaneously.
Standard encoders do not see a number of effects. Consider conduction errors or multiple dimensions of components. That is why HEIDENHAIN has developed the Dplus technology. This allows you to measure these effects and process them directly in the control.
At first glance, an encoder appears to be a standard encoder, equipped with a ruler and a scanning head. However, it can be implemented with two or more tracks. This way you can measure in multiple degrees of freedom at the same time, for example in the primary direction or perpendicular to it. All tracks have an integrated reference marker. This allows you to read the position signals simultaneously.
