EURO-INDEX has expanded the package of test instruments for PV installations with the I-V600 from Elektro Lijn. This instrument is capable of determining the IV curve of PV modules and strings up to 1,500 V and 40A, in accordance with IEC/EN60891 and IEC/EN62446-1. The I-V600 can be used with both single-sided and double-sided (bifacial) solar panels.
The housing of the instrument consists of a very robust carrying case. Under the lid there is a large color display with a reversing function, which makes the device easy to read, even when hanging upside down on a module rail. The supplied data logger/remote unit, reference cell and temperature probe make it possible to measure the temperature and irradiation at the solar panels. The remote unit has wireless communication up to 100 m (in the field) and a logging function in case wireless communication is negatively affected by obstacles, such as concrete structures. In this way it is always possible to determine an IV curve, regardless of the environment where the installation is located.
The I-V600 measures voltage, current, power and calculates the IV curve diagram under operating conditions and standard conditions (STC), in accordance with IEC/EN60891. The STC values are compared with the nominal values with an OK/NO result. The test results are stored on a Micro-SD card and then communicated via WiFi to a PC for analysis and measurement reporting with the supplied software. The I-V600 is always ready to use, even when the battery is almost empty. Thanks to the patented Battery Management System, the device charges its own battery by recovering the power consumed while the IV curve is determined.
