The new Endress+Hauser Liquitrend QMW43 is an innovative product for the food and beverage industry. The compact Liquitrend reliably measures the thickness of the growth of the medium on the tank or pipe wall and the conductivity. During Cleaning In Place (CIP) of the process installation, the sensor shows the end result of the cycle. There is simply no more direct feedback from the CIP result. Installing the Liquitrend QMW43 at one or more strategic locations in the installation helps to shorten the CIP procedure and increase installation availability for production.

The advantages of the new Liquitrend QMW43:

  • Plug and Play – easy setup without presets
  • Reliable and accurate measurement of layer thickness regardless of the type of media
  • Hygienic design: 3A, FDA, EHEDG and EG1935/2005 compliant
  • Conductive and capacitive measuring methods in one compact measuring device
  • Recessed stainless steel inline sensor
  • Integrated digital communication via IO-Link

The Liquitrend QMW43 has been developed for measuring the remaining layer thickness after cleaning the installation. It is not relevant whether the layer remaining on the sensor is not electrically conductive. By uniquely applying both conductive and capacitive measuring methods, Liquitrend QMW43 automatically adapts. This means that the Liquitrend can be applied without any prior knowledge about the type or degree of contamination on the sensor surface. If the Liquitrend QMW43 does not measure layer thickness with an empty pipe, it means that the installation is spotless.

Cleaning In Place (CIP) mainly takes place in the food and beverage industry. To ensure that tanks and pipes in these installations are sufficiently cleaned, the CIP flows are measured and documented for conductivity and turbidity. In many cases, the duration of the entire CIP process is based on empirical data. In practice, the cleaning time is often extended even further. The Liquitrend QMW43 offers direct insight into the cleaning by measuring the remaining layer thickness on the sensor. Sensor clean means installation clean.

Naturally, the Liquitrend complies with the guidelines that apply in the food and beverage industry and consists of food-safe, FDA-approved materials.
