Helmholz, specialist in PROFINET and industrial networks, is introducing a new member of the Flextra family. A switch with 8 RJ45 and 2 SFP ports. This switch has the unique design that FLEXtra switches are known for.
In addition to the design, the switch is equipped with RJ45 ports that can communicate both 100 Mbit and 1Gbit/s. The 2 SFP ports can be used multifunctionally, for example for single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic of 1Gbit/s. Due to these various options, the switch is suitable for both PROFINET and traffic between, for example, control elements and different machines.
With this expansion, the FLEXtra family now includes four types of PROFINET switches. This means that there is always a wide range of options available. From 16 RJ45 ports to various combinations of RJ45 with SFP slots. There is also an unmanaged version available with 16 RJ45 ports. This is also equipped with 100/1000 MBit/s ports.
The Flextra switches are optimized for PROFINET and are also called PROFINET switches. PROFINET switches are equipped with all protocols required for PROFINET. You can also easily include and configure them in the hardware configuration of your PLC with the GSDML file. Of course, these switches comply with PROFINET Conformance Class B and can be used immediately.
For PROFINET installations, Helmholz always recommends using PROFINET switches.
