EPE – The new 565 Lug-Style butterfly valve combines the well-known advantages of plastic – such as low weight and corrosion resistance – with the additional possibility of an end-of-line shut-off function, which offers greater flexibility in maintenance and installation.

Swiss plastic piping specialist GF Piping Systems is expanding its range of plastic butterfly valves with the introduction of the new 565 Lug-Style butterfly valve. This version offers new possibilities for water treatment, shipping, and refrigeration applications, among others.

Plastic alternative to metal butterfly valves

The 565 series butterfly valve was originally launched in 2021 with the plastic wafer-type design as an innovative alternative to metal butterfly valves. Plastic offers several advantages over metal, including lighter weight and no risk of corrosion. Replacing an old, corroded metal butterfly valve with a plastic 565 butterfly valve also requires no additional pipework, as it has the same installation length.

The new Lug-Style variant offers the same benefits but even more flexibility. In this version, the butterfly valve can also be used as an end-of-line valve, allowing pipe systems to be dismantled on one side. This simplifies maintenance of filters, tanks, and other installations – a significant advantage for installers and technical services working on critical water processes.

Smart, sustainable design

The 565 Lug-Style butterfly valve comes standard with pluggable lug inserts, providing compatibility and flexibility for various applications. The patented open body design also reduces weight, material consumption, and improves insert accessibility.

It is also the first industrial butterfly valve with an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) and is certified according to standards such as NSF, DNV, Lloyd's Register and KTW-BWGL.

Digitalization and automation as standard

The butterfly valve can be operated manually with a lockable lever or handwheel, but it also features a standard interface module so actuators, positioners, and (position) sensors can be easily installed on the valve. This allows the valve to be adapted for any future automation.
