Servometer has an extensive package of standard bellows available with different platings, composed of various materials of your choice and possibly equipped with flanges that can be clamped, soldered or screwed together.

Bellows are used between parts of equipment where a medium is transported from one part to another. This can be a gas or liquid where the expansion, based on temperature or pressure, can be mechanically compensated by the flexible construction of bellows.

Gold plating is used in this application for several reasons:

  • Corrosion resistance:
gold is a very stable and non-reactive metal, with high resistance to corrosion and oxidation
  • Low contact resistance:
gold has a low electrical resistance, which reduces the electrical resistance between the machine parts to ensure conductivity and signal transmission

A second application of gold-plated bellows is to make flexible contact such as a spring contact pin. Wear resistance and low contact resistance are the most important aspects.
Bellows contacts can also absorb shocks and vibrations in microstructures. And when filled with gas, to achieve specific damping in addition to perfect electrical contact.
